Alison Holt creates machine embroidered landscapes, gardens and flowers on hand-painted silk. The standard is amazing.

Alice Kettle creates stitched wall hangings - some large scale and all figurative. She has won commissions for cruise liners.

Alice Kettle's work is amazing. I'd heard of her but never really looked at her work. Thanks for the ref.

Dilligent readers will know that I visited Winchester's Discover Centre recently to see an exhibition of Howard Hodgkin's prints.
There is also a site-specific and massive wall hanging by Alice Kettle. It deserves a thorough reading as there is a lot 'going on'! I'm guessing it must be 8 metres long by about 4 metres high.

As you will see if you visit:

my estimate of the size of Alice Kettle's embroidery was way out!
